Swamp Thing confirmed for Injustice 2

With the release of Justice League Dark, the new animated film from DC Comics, Netherrealm Studios have confirmed that Swamp Thing will be joining the cast of Injustice 2. Swamp Thing was one of the most requested characters behind Blue Beetle in the polls and with his addition, we have 19 confirmed fighters for Injustice 2.

From what we know from the gameplay trailer, Swamp Thing uses a mixture of grapple attacks and powerful swings, he also uses vines and various nature abilities to attack from a distance, and even create clones of himself in a similar fashion to Mortal Kombat’s Noob Saibot.

Swamp Thing was created was created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson in the early 1970s, and then re-imagined by Alan Moore in the mid’80’s. While the character had been used in the past, there has been a recent resurgence of the character, possibly thanks to the aforementioned Justice League Dark Animated Film, which features the character along with other magical users such as John Constantine, Zatana, Deadman and others.

We’re curious how Swamp thing will fit into Injustice’s story but overall he is a welcomed addition. You can check out the IGN gameplay footage above.
