Sick of hearing about Star Wars yet? No! Good, because we have more news about EA/DICE’s upcoming Star Wars Battlefront. DICE has revealed 3 new modes for the game yesterday on the game’s blog.
The first announced was the new Heroes and Villains mode, which is a 6v6 mode that will pit a team of 3 heroes and 3 villains while the rest of your team members are filled with Rebels or Troopers. Designed to be short and “intense,” Heroes and Villains will have players attempting to defeat all the special characters from each side, when a hero or villain falls, they become a foot soldier for their team. This means players must simultaneously play offense and defense, according to EA.
The next mode is called Battles, in which the objective is to collect “tokens” that drop when you defeat an AI controlled soldiers. The first side to 100 points wins. There is also a variant of this mode called Hero Battle, which follows the same rules, but allows you to play as special characters including Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. EA goes into more detail on the game’s official blog.
Also included is the new Training Missions, which is designed to help newcomers get used to the game’s mechanics. There are several modes available that teach you how to control vehicles, and some hero characters.
On top of these announcements, EA also announced 3 new hero characters to join the game’s cast. Which includes Princess Leia, Han Solo and Emperor Palpatine. EA was also kind enough to let us know some of the new character’s special moves which you can view by clicking on the characters names. These new fan-favourite characters will be joining the already announced Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett and Darth Vader.
Star Wars Battlefront is set to release on November 17th, about a month before the release of Disney’s first run at the series in theatres, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, which is directed by Star Trek director, J.J. Abrams.
