Yakuza 5 hits PS3 Tomorrow, Yakuza 0 coming next year

During Saturday’s Playstation Experience keynote, Sony had two big announcements for fans of Sega’s Yakuza series. The first being a brand new trailer for Yakuza 0, a prequel to the original game which takes place in 1988, chronicling Kazima’s rise in the Dojima family. The game also gives you the point of view of our favourite eye-patched psychopath, Goro Majima early in his career as well.

Yakuza 0 is slated to launch in North America sometime in 2016 (no word on a European release as of yet.) And if that is too long of a wait, then dust off your PS3, because Yakuza 5 will finally see a release… Tomorrow, December 8th 2016. The news was dropped at the Playstation Experience out of nowhere, but it is a pleasant surprise. The game is a PS3 exclusive and appears only to be available via Playstation Network.

I’m a huge fan of the Yakuza series so seeing that the series will be getting some North American love makes me excited at the possibilities of future titles seeing less of a delay coming over here.
