Sony has officially announced the existence of the PlayStation 4, at the press event in NYC on Feb 20.
At the event Sony had many different speakers that came on stage to talk about what they are working on and also to share their ideas of the future of PS4. The first speaker was Mark Cerny, he talked about the how Sony designed the new architecture for the PS4, by involving the people that it effects the most when a new system is implement, the game developer.
After that, Mark showed and talked about the Dualshock 4 of the new features and improvements to the classic Sony style controller.
The second speaker was Dave Perry, co-founder and CEO of Gaikai and he talked about how Sony was incorporating the cloud streaming service that lets you play games without downloading the game on to your system. he also talked about how Sony was incorporating more social interaction on the ps4.
After they showed off the first party games and ideas that are coming from different studios like: Guerrilla Games with “Killzone: Shadow Fall”, Sucker Punch with “Infamous: Second Son”, Evolution Studios with “DriveClub”, Jonathan Blow with “The Witness”, David Cage with “fun with polygons”, last was Media Molecule with “making the PS move interesting again”.
they also announced that every major third party developer will be making games for the system, then they had some of the third party studio’s come on stage and talk about their new games, game engines and ideals of the future, the first studio was Capcom with their new game engine called “Code Named: Panta Rhei” and also “Deep Down (Working Title)” . Next was Square Enix and they should off their new “luminous engine” and they also announced they they are going to reveal a new Final Fantasy game at E3 this year. After Square Enix was Ubisoft and they showing off a live demo of “Watch Dogs”, after was a big surprise it was announced that Blizzard Entertainment has made a new partnership with Sony and they also revealed that they are porting Diablo 3 to the PS4 and PS3. The last company to come up on stage was Activision and they showed Bungie’s “Destiny”.
At the the end of the event it said that the console is going to get released “Holiday 2013”
