It’s been awhile since we last heard news from the upcoming “Last of Us” Movie. It looks like we’re going to be in much longer wait according to the game’s writer Neil Druckmann. In an interview with IGN, Druckmann explained what has happen with the movie since our last update.
“I know I said in an interview a while back we had a table read, got the script to a good place and it kind of entered development hell like these things tend to do… There hasn’t been any work done on it in over a year and a half.”
This this Naughty Dog property going nowhere in the film industry for a while now, we have to wonder what about the other Naughty Dog game that is set to be released in theatres. The Uncharted movie, which currently set for a June 30th 2017 release, seems to be moving along, however Druckmann has stated that Naughty Dog is only “somewhat involve.”
“Every once in a while [Sony will] come in and they’ll present to us: here’s the script, here’s what we’re thinking. We’ll tell them what we think works, what we think doesn’t work. That’s where we’re at. Last I heard is they got a new screenwriter, but we haven’t seen anything in awhile.” Druckmann and the rest of the Naughty Dog Crew has provided one part of consistent advice for the scriptwriters and that is to focus on the relationship between Nate, Scully and Elena. “If you don’t get that right, I don’t think the film’s going to work.”
