Now the game I was playing was Grand Prix Legends which was a awsome game for hardcore f1 fans who wanted to drive cars from 1967. Myself and brother inlaw were trying to do a lap around the old 1967 monza non oval and got one lap and crashed evertime, so out comes to old PC controller and I was able to do 10 laps no issues. Now my father showed up and had never seen this game or used this wheel. He sat down and BANG!! he took 12 sec off my time my jaw is still on my sisters floor to this day LOL.
So after my PC experince I moved to the world of consoles, I was given an old PS2 that my friend said was broken but after about 10 minutes of cleaning it worked like a top. So the first game I got was Toca3 (Please look at my post about Toca3 selfless plug) and started to race by myself, then I got the internet adaptor and found a crew from the website www.crash-n-bash-clan.aforumfree.com. These guys were the reason for me getting into racing online guys like POP, DOC, ONEBADGET CRASHTHNG,PEDALFOOT_BEAN,Metalsmith,Sthaust,Can-am-24. These guys were always self spotters (I am on your left, Go ahead) a lot of give and take and always fair racing not beating and bangin, well it sometimes did go there LOL. So I was always chasing the top guys and one day I asked “why can I not catch some of you guys” the reply was “are you using a wheel?” Well I was not ready for that question so then begun the wheel vs controller debate. One of the guys with a wheel said you gain 1-2 seconds a lap, But then there was a guy using a controller who when he come into a room was always running at the front (Oh ONEBADGT how i wise i had a PS3 LOL). So in my expercince I have found that it really does not matter cause if you use a controller you can be as fast as a guy with a wheel. Now I would love to have a wheel but i don’t so i use what I have and I not a great racer, fair, clean Yes but i have beaten people with and with out wheels but we all know this is one of those things that will never be answered. So I say race away guys and you be the judge.
