With Day one of E3 coming to a close, Sony’s conference had some of the biggest surprise reveals. Some leaked a little before hand but brought down the house and surprised fans none-the-less. Here is a recap of Sony’s E3 conference.
THE LAST F**KING GUARDIAN!
For the longest time, Team Ico’s latest Adventure game, The Last Guardian, was stuck in that place where games just disappear. This is the place where games like Fallout 4, Shenmue 3, Half-Life 3 and other games, with only a few ever to come out of hiding like a Bermuda Triangle of games (I’m also told this is called Development Hell). Starting off the show to a screaming crowd, The Last Guardian was shown and dated for a 2016 launch on PS4.
By the way, that place I mentioned is also where Duke Nukem Forever was hiding out…
HORIZON PITS PREHISTORIC MAN AGAINST MACHINE.
Guerrilla Games, the team behind the popular Killzone franchise, has released a brand new IP, Horizon: Zero Dawn. Set years after civilization ended, humans are now hunting robotic animals in order to survive. Interesting enemies, stealth and combat makes this a game to keep an eye on.
47 RETURNS IN HITMAN
Not much is known about HITMAN except for the trailer, we’ll possibly hear more from Square-Enix during their conference tomorrow.
CAMMY AND BIRDY RETURN IN STREET FIGHTER V
Fan Favourite Cammy returns to Street Fighter in the new Street Fighter 5, and brings along a friend from the Alpha series, Birdy. The game’s Beta is launching July 23rd 2015.
NO MAN’S SKY IS HUGE
No Man’s Sky was a huge hit during last year’s E3, and while we didn’t get a release date, we did get to see more gameplay in the form of exploration, combat and space flight. The demo, all done live, showed how huge the universe of No Man’s Sky is, leaving you a small speck on the screen when zoomed out entirely.
MEDIA MOLECULE MAKES YOUR DREAMS
Media Molecule, best known for Tearaway and LittleBigPlanet, are giving you the tools to sculpt your dreams in their new game, “Dreams.” The game allows you to build scenes and characters, and then control them in a puppet like state. It leaves plenty of questions, like “how does it work?” for instance, but hopefully we’ll hear more later.
FIREWATCH
An interesting Indie title, Firewatch puts you in the role of a Fire lookout officer who is seemingly isoclated in a Wyoming forest in 1989. The trailer shows the officer doing some tasks for a radio operator, however the game gets tense when a mysterious figure takes over your tower in the distance.
DESTINY THE TAKEN KING EXPANSION ANNOUNCED
Destiny’s latest expansion, The Taken King, was announced via a trailer and set to a release date of September 15th 2015.
ASSASSIN’S CREED: SYNDICATE EVIE TRAILER
As we know, we’re getting 2 Assassins in the next Assassin’s Creed game, however most media has been focused on Jacob, the latest trailer for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate indicated that his twin sister is the one to be feared.
SQUARE ENIX’S CHIBI GOODNESS AND HELL FREEZING OVER.
Square announced two Final Fantasy games coming to the PS4. The first of which is an addorible Chibi-style game where players can ride on-top of monsters called World of Final Fantasy. The only thing we know for sure about this title is that it’s extremely cute, will have cameos from other Final Fantasy heroes and will be available on PS4 and PSVita.
Then after years of Square saying that they will not do it, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was announced coming “First” to the PS4 with a pretty new trailer.
SHENMUE 3 KICKSTARTER.

Let’s put it this way, People were standing and crying when Sony showed this, and in under 2 hours, Shenmue 3 is already halfway pasted it’s requested goal of $2 Million Dollars. So here’s the link.
4 NEW DEVOLVER DIGITAL TITLES
A quick video showed off 4 new titles from publisher Devolver Digital including Ronin, Eitr, Mother Russia Bleeds and Crossing Souls.
BATMAN ARKHAM KNIGHT
The latest trailer for the upcoming Arkham Knight which launches next week showed off why the game is rated M. Seriously creepy.
CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS 3 JUMPS SHIP TO PLAYSTATION
Wondered why Black Ops 3 was not at Microsoft’s conference? It’s because the nice little deal of “Xbox getting maps first” has now become “Playstation getting maps first.” Treyarch showed up at the show to show off the new 4 player co-op campaign, which will give you much more freedom when it comes to your fights, as well as an awesome showing of the new Class based Multiplayer.
STAR WARS!
Disney Infinite 3.0 Edition will have an exclusive edition for the PS4 which will gain access to the next content pack – Rise of the Empire. The PS4 version will be getting this and a new Boba Fett figurine a few months early when the game launches.
Some more Star Wars Battlefront Gameplay was also shown, this time the game’s co-op mission mode against a horde of Empire troops.
UNCHARTED 4
To end the presentation we got a live play of a level in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The demo (which suffered a hiccup at the beginning, had Nathan Drake and Sully driving through a crowded city while running away from the local militia. Packed with the humorous banter we come to expect from the series.
VERDICT
While the presentation started strong, the rest of the show kind of fizzled out after the announcement of the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter. Still a strong showing for Sony.
