Natsume confirmed on the 21st that River City: Tokyo Rumble will see a release in the west on 3DS. After hinting at it on the 20th with a picture of three “?” quoting, “Punch! Kick! BARF!”. The “BARF!” part is the tell on this as it was a common quote on the NES game River City Ransom when you defeated an enemy.
“We know there’s a loyal fanbase of the River City series in North America who have been asking for more of these addictive games to play!”
– Hiro Maekawa, President & CEO of Natsume
“River City its celebrating its 30th anniversary in Japan in 2016, and we’re excited to be part of the celebration,” said Minoru Kidooka, CEO of Arc System Works. He also brought up past title they have partnered with Natsume in the past for localization, quoting “We’re very excited to be continuing our partnership with Natsume, which included Gotcha Racing and Brave Tank Hero in 2015.”. Hopefully, this means quicker localization in the future for other titles as well.
On top of the story mode, the game also features a 4-man rumble mode and dodgeball mode which can be done through local play and download play.
A date as yet to be said for the release but a confirmed presence at E3 this year from Natsume will more than likely yield more information.
