On March 15th, Bethesda released a major free update to Quake Champions – which is still currently in Early Access – which sees the first new mode added to the game since the game’s closed beta, and brings back a Quake classic – Instagib.
Instagib is the classic one-shot-kill mode where the only gun available is the extremely powerful railgun and the gauntlet. In a Quake Champions twist, Champions will still have the option to use their character’s active and passive abilities, with cool-down hourglasses spawning on the map.
On top of the new addition, players will also receive a new 2v2 TDM Ranked Mode, some new Spring Cosmetics and a new “No Ability Mode” for custom games which reverts the game classic Quake rules.
Quake Champions can be picked up in Early Access on Steam, and is currently priced at $29.99USD. Bethesda announced that the game will be free-to-play when the game leaves Early-Access, more details on future free to play plans for Quake Champions can be found here.
