Released last year on PC, Italian Developers LKA.it have confirmed their Psychological Horror game, Town of Light, will be coming to PS4 and XBox One later this year. The announcement was originally made on the Playstation Blog (with the studio confirming the Xbox One release shortly after) in which they shed some light on what console players can expect from the game.
Interestingly enough, the game is inspired by true events and takes place in the Volterra Psychiatric Asylum in Tuscany, Italy. The real life Asylum operated for over 100 years before it was closed in the 1970’s due to practices deemed ‘too cruel.’ Players take the role of Renee, a former resident of the asylum she attempts to find out more about her past.
According to the developers, the console version (and a “improved” PC version) will feature some graphical upgrades, as well as new story and gameplay elements in order to make the game feel more immersive.
The developers also wanted to let people know that this is definitely not a game to play around children. “The game has some difficult moments making it unsuitable for children, but moments which we felt were important to include, doing justice to those who suffered at the hands of a system which was clearly overwhelmed and itself didn’t know all of the answers,” said Luca Dalco, Art Director and Screenwriter for Studio LKA.it . “Today, things are of course very different as great advances in the care for those with mental illness have been made around the world.”
No word on when the console release will be available, but for PC Players who are hearing about this Psychological Horror game for the first time, you can pick it up on Steam right now, which it currently holds a “Very Positive” rank.
