We were wondering if we would see a new update to the Nintendo Labo, Nintendo’s Do-It-Yourself Cardboard building game set. Yesterday Nintendo announced a new set and this time, it’s going to be VR focused.
The Nintendo Labo: VR Kit is described as a “unique first VR experience” and will be available on the Switch on April 12th. The full package will be priced at $79.99 and will include six projects which includes a set of VR Goggles, a blaster, a camera, a bird, wind pedals, and an elephant. The kit also comes with an additional screen holder and safety cap.
If you don’t want to jump right into VR on the Switch or cautious about the Cardboard sets, you can purchase the starter kit for $39.99 which includes the VR goggles and the blaster. Two other expansions, which includes the Elephant and Camera bundle, and the Bird and Wind Pedal projects, will be priced at $19.99 each.
Like the other Labo sets, players can use the Toy-Con Garage for basic programming in the VR system. Nintendo hasn’t clearly stated how this will work with the VR Kit, but knowing the community, we’re sure there will be something interesting coming out of it after the set launches.
We admit that this Labo set sounds interesting. While no way meant to copy the power of the HTC, Oculus or the PSVR; for those interested in trying VR, it could be a cheap way of getting your hands on it.
