The second single from Chicago based punk rock band Rise Against latest album “Wolves” – House on Fire is the first song from the album to receive a music video (seen above).
Lyrically, the song is a much personal one then most would be used to when it comes to Rise Against, who are probably best known for more politically charged songs like “Help is on the Way” and “Prayer for the Refugee”. The music video, directed by Daniel Carberry, greatly reflects that by showing a relationship between a grandfather and his granddaughter, who happens to have a sort of flame based superpower that goes haywire… Because Metaphors for puberty is best served X-Men style.
“When you hear it you might hear a kind of classic love-and-loss-like love song … but the song actually is about becoming a parent,” Rise Against frontman Tim McIlrath said on the 2 Hours with Matt Pinfield podcast. “I like to think I have the world figured out, but once you throw a 13-year-old daughter your way you realize, I have nothing figured out. And this is an incredible challenge that’s at the same time worth it.”
Wolves was released on April 20th 2017, which charted number 9 in the US Billboard 200.
