According to an official site for the property, we’re likely to see a new game based on the Metro series in 2017. The latest book, Metro 2035, is set to be released in English later this year, after originally being published in Russian in 2015.
“It all adds up to something. Where the books end their story, the game will pick it up. An era of great discoveries lies ahead…” The website claims.
The original book in Dmitry Glukhovsky’s Metro trilogy was released back in 2005, but wouldn’t see a translated version until 2010, when 4A Games released Metro 2033 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Metro 2034 was published in 2009, with the sequel to the game “Metro Last Light” published in 2013 serving as a bridge between Metro 2034 and 2035.
Deep Silver, who purchased the rights to the series after THQ went bankrupt has yet to say anything about the upcoming title, while 4A Games are currently working on an Oculus title called Arktika1, however did mention back in 2014 that they were also working on an “Unannounced titles in the Metro Universe.”
[UPDATE] Deep Silver has confirmed via Facebook at this time that there is no plans for a new Metro game to be released in 2017.
