While it seems like we won’t be getting a new Castlevania that isn’t a Pachinko machine anytime soon, we can at least look forward to a new Animated series that will be dark and violent later this year on Netflix.
The Animated Castlevania project was announced at Netflix’s press event on Wednesday to highlight some of the new shows coming out for the streaming services. The event mentioned the series in passing with Adi Shankar (Best known for producing movies like Dredd and directing the Punisher: Dirty Laundry and Gritty Power Rangers) confirming that he will serve as co-producer, with the first part of the season being released later this year and written by Famed Comic writer Warren Ellis.
From what we know of the series, it will follow the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, focusing on the last member of the disgraced Belmont clan. Shankar stated he will also be working with Frederator Studios’ Fred Seibert and Kevin Kolde, Seibert himself teased the project in a Podcast back in December but did not confirm that the new hyper-violent series would be Castlevania at that time.
