For fans of Naughty Dog’s “The Last of Us”, September 26 holds a special date. In the game’s lore, this is the day when the Cordyceps virus reached critical mass and the events of the game start. To celebrate this day, Sony and Naughty Dog usually push out deals on the game, its DLC and usually throw something limited and cool in the mix.
For September 26th 2016, we got this:
This beautiful poster Illustrated by Kevin Tong and developed in close collaboration with the studio was sold by Mondo on a very limited run, selling out as fast as the poster was announced.
Let’s fast-forward to last weekend, during the Playstation Experience. As a welcome surprise, Naughty Dog revealed The Last of Us Part 2, a continuation of Ellie’s Story. The trailer didn’t tell much of the game, but showed off a new design look for Ellie which included a really cool tattoo.
Of course fans of the game, likely wanting to get the same tattoo to show dedication, asked Naughty Dog to provide reference. Luckily, Naughty Dog and Director Neil Druckmann provided the fans what they want.
Since so many asked for them, here’re Ellie’s Tattoo (designed by @nataliehall) & outfit (designed by @coyotehackles). pic.twitter.com/cPGsX8vppk

Looking at the tattoo, there is a clear reference to The Last of Us Part 2 in the Mondo poster released two months prior on Outbreak Day! This wouldn’t be the first time that Naughty Dog has teased a game in plain sight, with the original “The Last of Us” game being teased on a newspaper in Uncharted 3.
Where you one of the lucky ones to buy the poster? Do you think it’s more valuable now that it holds this little easter egg? Let us know!
