Despite not hearing from Konami about what we all think is a bad idea, Metal Gear Survive is still surviving and is coming to consoles and PC via Steam in February.
Picking up after Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, players are thrown into a wormhole and find themselves in an alternate dimension filled with zombie like creatures and a hostile environment. In order to stay alive, players will have to search for food, water, scavenge materials for weapons, building sand other items. This includes a camp building mechanic that allows players to grow crops and take care of animals.
The game promises to be both a single player and 4 player co-operative experience, with players learning resource management and base development in single-player and being able to bring that with their friends in co-op while collecting more loot.
Konami also announced a Survival Bonus Pack which will be available for pre-orders. This includes:
4 Gold-plated weapons: Bat, Sledgehammer, Survival Machete and Survival Spear
4 Metallic survival scarves: Green, Blue, Pink and Silver
2 Gestures: “Thumbs Up” and “Happy”
Mother Base Nameplate
“BOXMAN [THE ORANGE]” accessory
“Kabuki” face paint
Metal Gear Survive will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC via Steam on February 20th 2018 in North America (February 22nd in Europe) and will be priced at $39.99 CND, possibly a saving grace for the title considering the backlash it has experienced due to the very public break-up between Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and Konami.
