Last week at Gamescom, 2K gave us a first look at Mafia 3 with a CG trailer. Showing off a New Orleans location and set in 1968, Mafia 3 will follow a new Anti-Hero; Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam war vet returning home to start a new life.
2K official description of the the character from the press report describe Lincoln as:
Orphaned as a child, Lincoln at last achieves a semblance of family with the city’s black mob, finding the surrogate father and brother he has longed for. But when Lincoln’s new family is betrayed and slaughtered by the Italian mob, he becomes fixated on revenge and wages a brutal war against the Italians, disrupting the balance of power in the seedy underworld of New Orleans. As the story progresses, Lincoln allies himself with other criminals and builds an empire and a new family of his own that transforms the city.
“The Mafia franchise is known for its immersive sense of time and place, and for presenting compelling stories about life within organized crime,” said Haden Blackman, studio head and creative director at developer Hanger 13, in a press release.
The trailer shows no gameplay footage and no release dates have been given as of yet. Also no word on if 2K will renew their deal with Playboy for the game’s controversial collectable items.
