Those familiar with the hit manga/anime series Attack on Titan will know about the the Scout Regiments, one of the central groups focused in the series. In the upcoming Attack on Titan video game from Dynasty Warriors creators Omega Force, players will be able to create their own Scout team with 3 of their friend to go Titan hunting.
Scout Mode will act as the game’s Multiplayer mode, which will allow players to recruit up to three companions online to venture outside the wall and take on the Titans. Koei Tecmo detailed how the mode would work in the latest press release, stating that players will start at the Scout camp, where they can “upgrade their gear, change their costumes and prepare resources for an upcoming onslaught.” The Leader of the party will then be able to choose a variety of missions across the Forest of Giant Trees, the Ruined Town, a Farm Village and even the Stohess District.
These missions are separate from the main campaign, however players will earn items to upgrade the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear, blades, and scabbard by slaying Titans on both single player and multiplayer missions.
So how does these “enhancements” work? According to Koei Tecmo: “the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear include improved anchors, allowing them to attach on to Titans from a greater distance and at faster speeds. Blades can be sharpened, as well as improved to become longer and more durable, with scabbard upgrades allowing additional blades and gas canisters to be carried. It is important for players to enhance their equipment to perform more effectively on the battlefield.”
Another Gameplay addition is the Decisive Battle Signal, which in short terms is similar to a rage mode. Saving Scouts and killing Titans will fill the Decisive Battle meter which when filled, once used, calls everyone in the player’s vicinity to their side to deal a great amount of damage. When activated their attack damage will be heightened, with the blunting of blades and depletion of gas momentarily stopped.
Koei Tecmo also released several new screenshots and character trailers for the game, which you can watch below. Attack on Titan is set to launch on August 30th for Xbox One, PS4 and digitally for PS3, Vita, and PC via Steam.
