More details about Netherrealms anticipated follow-up to their DC Superhero brawler has been coming out of the wood work, with the announcement of an Online Beta and several different editions to choose from.
Starting with the Collectors Editions, players will have a choice of 3 different editions when the game launches on May 16th, regular, A Digital Deluxe, and Ultimate Editions of the game. Each edition will include several DLC options including new characters, premiere skins and Gear Shaders.
While the regular edition will gain you access to the game, Digital Deluxe will net you 3 DLC characters, 1 premiere skin for Supergirl which will turn her into Powergirl with new an “all new look, voice, and dialogue.” Meanwhile the Ultimate Edition will give players access to 9 DLC Characters, 3 premiere skins (Power Girl, Reverse-Flash, John Stewart’s Green Lantern) and 2 gear shaders.
While the premiere skins are interesting (and similar to the Arrow costume for Green Arrow in the original Injustice) the most interesting part of these editions is the number of DLC characters. While NetherRealm has been notorious for their DLC coming in multiple season passes, it appears that we might be seeing the Ultimate Edition as an early “Game of the Year” package including all planned DLC for the game, which gives us at least 9 DLC characters to enjoy.
If you want to try the game before May 16th, NetherRealm is now accepting registrations for the beta via the game’s official website. At this time, we don’t know when and how long the Beta will run or what it will feature.
