GameInformer has gotten the inside scoop on the campaign mode of the upcoming Xbox One Exclusive, Halo 5: Guardians. The biggest announcement out of this has been the reveal that both Master Chief and new character Jameson Locke will each have their own squad to help them out in co-op mode, and will be heavily present in the game’s single-player mode.
Master Chief will be joined by his fabled Blue Team, consisting of Linda, Kelly and Fred. These characters have fought together before in the Halo expanded universe, but this marks the first time that the team comes together in a Halo game. Accoding to GameInformer, Fred, Kelly and Linda will appear in cutscenes and follow the Master Chief’s commands during the game, meanwhile in Co-op, friends will be able to take control of Blue Team, each with their own specific load outs.
Naval Intelligence agent Jameson Locke, Halo 5’s other main playable character whose mission is to find Master Chief and Blue Team, will also have a squad of his own and is followed by Fireteam Osiris. Only one character was confirmed for Fireteam Osiris’ group of Spartan IV Super Soldiers and that is Edward Buck, the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper who was played by Nathan Fillion in 2009’s Halo: ODST.
Halo 5 Guardians is GameInformer’s Cover Story for July’s issue, and we’re still expecting to see something at E3 next week. The game itself is set to launch on Oct. 27 of this year.
