Gearbox and 2K have officially announced that their upcoming MOB… um… Battle Arena Shooter, Battleborn, has officially gone gold and is ready to be shipped for its May 3rd release date. Now that the game is officially cleared development on the game, it’s time to talk about post-launch content.
2K announced that there will be 5 additional characters to be dropped into the game, boosting the game’s total number of badasses from 25 to 30, along with Competitive multiplayer modes, maps, balance updates, and community features all for Free!
“When gamers throw down their hard earned cash they want that experience to last. This is why it’s very important to us that we deliver more than $60 worth of content at launch and continue to add more value in the form of free heroes, maps, modes, and other features post-launch.” 2K wrote on the Battleborn Blog.
The first of these new Badasses is Alani, a healer warrior with the power to control water and heal her fellow Battleborn allies. PlayStation 4 players who participate in the upcoming Open Beta will instantly-unlock Alani once she’s available after launch, saving players the time it takes to earn her through playing the game.
Of course there will also be a bunch of paid content as well. In a similiar fashion to Borderlands DLC, the paid content for Battleborn will be priced at $4.99 each and containe one new Story Operation, as well as exclusive hero skins and taunts. A season pass has also been announced covering 5 of these packs at $19.99, which is also included in the Digital Deluxe Edition priced at $74.99.
