Epic Games’ Fortnite will be going free-to-play next year, but the game is available to play now if you purchase an Early Access edition of the game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Despite that the game will be transitioning in the near future, Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite has been doing really well.
Fortnite creative director Darren Sugg revealed on Twitter that over 500,000 people have purchased one of the game’s paid tiers which is available in several different packs at a variety of price ranges. The various packs includes the $40 standard edition which comes with access to the game, loot packs and cosmetic items. Other tiers include a $60 Deluxe, $80 Super Deluxe, and a $150 Limited Edition all of which includes various bonuses including more heroes, weapons packs and even additional keys to give to friends.
Fortnite was originally announced in December 2011, it had gone through numerous revisions with Epic’s CEO stating that “it’s a game that takes time to get right.” Early reviews and comments toward the game seem to be positive at this time. Fortnite will move to a free-to-play structure, however at this time it is unknown how the model will work for the game.
