Folks, take note about something. Learn from failure and don’t dwell on it. At least don’t dwell on it publicly enough that it makes you look bad in the process.
However a former marketing executive for Nexon didn’t realize this as he pulled out of the Video Game Expo – DevGAMM Summit, where he was expected to give a talk titled “Lawbreakers: How I blew Millions Marketing the Biggest Flop of 2017.”
On Thursday, Destructoid noticed the panel set for the summit at the end of August in Seattle. After bringing the panel to light, Vlad Coho, who was Vice President of Marketing for Nexon America and a speaker on the panel, withdrew from the conference.
“My talk was going to be about my lessons learned from the mistakes I made, not about what the devs could have done better or differently. That said, out of respect for the BKP team, I’ve pulled the talk and won’t be mentioning Lawbreakers or Nexon if/when I do speak at DevGamm,” he told Destructoid.
It’s sad to say that Lawbreakers wasn’t the next big thing we hoped it would be, during my time in the beta I thought it was a great hero shooter, however it failed to keep its footing against behemoths like Overwatch and with the Battle Royale craze right round the corner, Lawbreakers was unfortunately dead in the water. Its failure lead to the closure of the development studio, Boss Key Productions, and the upcoming closure of the game’s servers next month.
