Creator of the Five Nights at Freddy’s games, Scott Cawthon, has released the first trailer for the newest addition to the wildly popular survival horror series, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location.
The sequel will take place deep below ground at the “Sister Location” referenced by the character most often known as “Phone Guy” in the first three games. The cast of creepy animatronics revealed thus far in this first trailer include a non-contorted version of Mangle, a doll-like ballerina, a re-colored Freddy Fazbear with a puppet in place of one of his hands, and a particularly creepy-looking female clown. The trailer also contains brief clips of what appears to be gameplay that seem to suggest that players won’t be confined to a single room or area, unlike past games in the series.
Chances are high that all theories about the lore of the games will be disproved yet again with this new installment, much like the theory of an actual “final installment” to the series. The series has been criticized by some as a “cash cow” at this point, and this newest title isn’t likely to deter others from possibly forming that same opinion. However, considering that Scott Cawthon’s last game was a RPG spin-off to the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise that was so poorly received that it got pulled from Steam and re-released as freeware on Game Jolt, it could be possible that this game’s creation might have been spurred out of an effort to restore the famed developer’s reputation.
Either way, you can probably expect your recommended videos on YouTube to be filled with Let’s Plays of the game soon after it releases this fall. Though as this is a game made by Scott Cawthon, don’t be surprised to see the title released sometime next week.
