At the Final Fantasy XV Uncovered press event earlier this evening, we got a lot of exciting news about the new Final Fantasy XV Universe that Square Enix has been working on for the past 10 years, the biggest announcement came at the ending of the show when a September 30th 2016 release date was delivered.
Throughout the show, we were treated with new information about Universe including a movie and anime (more on those later), and a lot of new gameplay footage (above) which highlighted driving, minigames, chocobos, all to the tune of Florence + the Machine’s beautiful rendition of Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me”.
Of course, seeing the game in action isn’t the same as playing, so Square Enix has delivered a Free Stand-Alone Demo called Final Fantasy XV: Platinum Demo, a prequel story that serves as a demo and expansion to the game where players take control of Noctis as a child, as he is guided through a dream world by Carbuncle, a recurring summon in the Final Fantasy series, as a ‘magical guide’.
Players who complete the demo will be given access to Carbuncle in the main game as a DLC bonus, and best of all, the Demo is available now on PS4 and Xbox One. You can watch the trailer for the demo above.
Finally, we also got a glimpse of two special editions that will be available for Pre-order shortly on the Square Enix Online Store.
The first was the Deluxe Edition, which included a nice steelbook cover, DLC Car, outfits and sword, as well as a copy of Kingsglaive, an upcoming CGI Movie based on FFXV.
The Ultimate Collector’s Edition comes with the mentioned above, an impressive Play Arts Noctis figure, all 5 episodes of the Final Fantasy XV: Brotherhood anime, and more DLC.
It’s been a long 10 year wait, but Final Fantasy XV is getting ever closer, what is your prediction? Game of the Year, Game of the Century, or do you think it’ll flop? Let us know in the comments.
