The Dynasty Warriors series has been around wiping up mobs of nameless soldiers since 1997 (first released as a one-on-one fighter and then as the brawlfest that we have come to know and love) so it would stand to reason that Omega Force would have some big ambitions for the next title in the series.
During a Live-Stream announcement earlier this week, Dynasty Warriors 9 had been officially announced with a major overhaul to the game, an completely open world China to explore and wage war on. The team also promised a 83 character roster featuring all the characters from Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires along with some new warriors, and there will be changes to the game’s combo system.
This is certainly sounding ambitious from a team that has, for the most part, found a winning formula and stuck with it, creating several spin-off series including Warrior games based on other companies series (Hyrule Warriors, Dragon Quest Heroes) and Anime Series (Berserk and the Band of the Hawk, Dynasty Warriors Gundam).
Another Dynasty Warriors game is also in the works for a January release, Dynasty Warriors: GodSeekers will be a Turn-Based Tactical RPG featuring the Dynasty Warriors characters.
