Nintendo has confirmed that they will be shutting down online connectivity for the winner of countless “Worst game of 2015” awards, Devil’s Third, effectively on December 28th at 8 p.m. PT. Downloadable content will no longer be sold beginning June 27 at 9 a.m. PT. The Golden Egg add-ons were priced between $3.99 and $19.99 and could be traded for various weapon enhancements and cosmetic items. Nintendo has now also permanently cut the price of the game down to $29.99 on the eShop.
Released only last December, Devil’s Third was the first game developed by Valhalla, the studio formed by former Team Ninja member Tomonobu Itagaki, which suffered several issues during development including being sold off by THQ just before the company declared Bankruptcy.
A free-to-play, multiplayer-only version is set for a Windows PC release, although it remains unscheduled. It is unlikely that this version will ever be released.
