There is no such thing as negative press and Koei Tecmo has proved it by getting everyone talking about their latest game, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. A game that is not being released to North America and Europe.
We covered the story on the Podcast last week that the game was not coming over due to a now removed Facebook post from the Dead or Alive page, that mentioned the reasoning behind the decision to not bring the game over was due to issues with how women are represented in games in these regions. Of course this statement brought the game into the light by many news feeds, prompting fan outcrys for Koei Tecmo to release the game anyways.
Yesterday, we were given the official word from Koei Tecmo from the DOA Facebook page that the game… Is still not coming to North America or Europe.
The comments recently made by an employee regarding Dead or Alive Xtreme 3on the official Dead or Alive Facebook page only reflect that individual’s opinion and not the opinion or business strategy of Koei Tecmo Games.
We remain focused on delivering the best in fighting entertainment to our fans around the world, while consciously respecting and strategizing to support the different global audiences the Dead or Alive franchise lends itself to.
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 remains in development and is still planned for release in Japan and Asia only.
DOA Xtreme 3 is still set for a release next year on PS4 and Vita in Japan and Asia, leaving fans with the option to import the game, luckily Xtreme 3 will feature english subtitles allowing for less of a hassle for importers.
