The saga of Dead Island 2 has been a roller coaster for those who are excited for the melee focused zombie game. Originally announced in 2014 with a release the year after, the game had changed development teams twice, got parodied by a pack of goats, and now with publisher Deep Silver and their internal development team at Dambuster Studios, it’s set to release in 2023 – however with one more delay.
“The irony of delaying Dead Island 2 is not lost on us, and we are as disappointed as you undoubtedly are,” the publisher and developer said in a statement posted to Twitter. “The delay is just 12 short weeks and development is on the final straight now; we’re going to take the time we need to make sure we can launch a game we’re proud to launch. For those of you who’ve been waiting for years, thank you for hanging in there with us.”
Dead Island 2 is now currently set to release on April 28th, 2023. Dambuster promised to release “an exciting new trailer and gameplay” at a Dead Island 2 showcase on December 6th on Twitch and Youtube.
Dead Island 2 is set for Playstation 4, Playstation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
