The latest entry in Spike Chunsoft’s murder-mystery series, Danganronpa, was announced during the Tokyo Game Show earlier this year, where series writer, Kazutaka Kodaka, confirmed that the game will be coming to PSVita, and for the first time in the series, PS4 and PS3.
Some slight new details have been confirmed about the upcoming title thanks to Famitsu, which tells us more about Monokuma and his latest slew of high school victims. According to Famitsu, New Danganronpa V3 will feature a new academy and focus on a “psycho cool” theme, there will also be a new gameplay mechanic during the class trials called “lie”, however no details were mentioned about how the players will be able to use this feature.
On top of this information, it was also announced that the series will also see a new Anime as well titled Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak Academy. The announcement trailer shows off some character concepts, and includes some familiar faces to the Danganronpa series, so you may not want to look at the trailer below if you’re not caught up with Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc or Goodbye Dispair.
For those unfamiliar with the Vita game, Danganronpa follows a class of gifted high schoolers forced into a deadly game of murder and deception. As students are killed one-by-one by their classmates, players work to find clues and pinpoint the culprit in a series of events culminating in a trial. A spin off title was released earlier this year, titled “Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls” which played similar to a 3rd person shooter.
There is no word on if the 3rd chapter of the game will be available in North America at this time.
