During the “Nindies” Nintendo Direct, we heard something that we were not expecting as Nintendo started the show with bringing Cuphead, one of Microsoft’s most critically acclaimed Xbox Exclusives, would be coming to the Switch on April 18th.
At the end of the announcement, Nintendo thanked both Cuphead developer Studio MDHR and “our friends at Microsoft.” As someone who grew up during the console wars, this was a bit trippy to hear, despite how friendly the two companies had been over the past year with the inclusion of Cross-Platform Play. This friendliness has also sparked rumours that the Microsoft Gamepass and Project xCloud services could possibly be coming to Nintendo’s hybrid console in the near future.
No matter how surprising to see a previous Microsoft Exclusive on a Nintendo device, Cuphead fits perfectly on the console. While we didn’t include a review of the game, we did do a let’s play series on our Youtube Channel, which mostly consisted of Pentavus and I embarrassingly losing.
Cuphead is now out on Xbox One and PC.
