Honestly, when the first THQ auction went through, we were sad to see one of our favorite THQ games and the team that made it not get a single bid. This caused Vigil studios to fall apart and the Darksider IP to be put on the back burner for the other auction which is set for April 1st. Since then Crytek, who picked up Homefront during the big auction, had picked up 35 of the employee’s the defunct studio to form Crytek USA.
David Adam, Crytek USA CEO and former employee at Vigil stated that the Darksiders property “belongs at home with its creators.” Ryan Stefanelli, Crytek USA principal designer and Vigil co-founder, backed Adam up while talking with Destructoid by adding, “When the Darksiders IP goes up for auction, Crytek will be bidding for it. Not much more to say since the rest is left up to courts and legal shenanigans, but we’re all excited at the prospect.”
The IP which includes the two Darksiders games, will be up for sale on April 1st with bidding ending on April 15th. Other properties in this auction also includes the Red Faction and Homeworld series, as well as their licensed material excluding the WWE franchise which was purchased by Take-Two.
