While the Halo series has been an Xbox staple, the first two titles in the series along with two top-down spin-offs, Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike, did see a PC release. With Microsoft’s renewed efforts on Windows Gaming, it might be possible that we’ll see the latest entry in the series, Halo 5 Guardians, on PC. At least that is the hope we’ve been given thanks to Halo franchise development director Frank O’Connor during a livestream GamesRadar.
Microsoft has made a huge commitment to try and I think normalize the Windows experience across multiple platforms,” O’Connor said. “You’re seeing elements of Windows 10 are going to appear on the Xbox … Cortana and stuff like that.
“There’s plenty of chance that Halo 5 could appear on the PC. Nothing to announce at this point but it’s absolutely not out of the bounds of reason. We developed the game on an Intel platform. It wouldn’t be the hardest thing in the world to move it to PC and take advantage of PC stuff. But nothing to announce today…”
That being said, another Halo spin-off will be coming to PC and Xbox One, the real-time strategy Halo Wars 2 developed by Alien Isolation and Total War developer Creative Assembly. Microsoft had also confirmed that several other Xbox One exclusive titles including Killer Instinct, Gears of War Ultimate and Fable Legends will also be seeing a PC release.
Halo 5 Guardians is set to release tomorrow, Oct 27th 2015.
