D3 shared some new information about the upcoming B-Movie inspired shooter, Earth Defense Force 5, including a ton of screenshots and a look at some new enemies for the EDF to get decimated by fight against.
One of the new features to the series is 2 new alien creatures that seem to be fighting against the EDF. These creatures are a humanoid “invader”, a reptilian “Colonists” and the insect creatures being (unfortunately) called “Immigrants”.
The Immigrants are labelled in two ways, “Aggressive Alien Species α” and “Aggressive Alien Species β”. α act like the basic insects that we’re used to from the series, however they are bigger and contains the ability to spit deadly acid, there is also a variant version which have a higher combat aptitude and have a harder shell which can defend against normal weapons. β are much more dangerous yet slower, but uses traps and a higher durability.
The Colonists act as giant reptilian creatures that are similar to Frogs with giant laser weapons. They appear to be very smart and have a large number of fighters, it’s likely that they will not be an easy opponent to take down.
Finally we have the Invader, a giant humanoid creature (possibly a robot) which appears to use tactics, a variety of different weapons and appears to communicate between each other. Not much more have been said about these new classes.
Currently, Earth Defense Force 5 is set to release a 2017 release on PS4 in Japan, a western release has yet to be confirmed. Check out the gallery of new screenshots for the game below.
