It’s been a long while since Megaman seen some love from Capcom, aside from an appearance as Megaman X in Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite and the Legacy Collection which brought Megaman 1 through 10 to PS4, Xbox One and PC. Now with the character’s 30th anniversary on its way, Capcom has given us more to look forward to from the classic franchise.
The biggest of these announcements is Megaman 11, a new 2.5D platformer being developed by a veteran development team at Capcom, which will bring back the tight side-scrolling action that the series is known for. Capcom released a new video showing off the game in action, as well as one of the various weapons you’ll get from defeating robot masters. The game is set to be released on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch sometime in Late 2018.
This wasn’t the only news that Capcom as they confirmed that the Legacy Collection 1 and 2 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2018, having all 10 Megaman titles leading up to Megaman 11 available to Switch owners. The first collection (which includes the original six games) will have an additional Rewind feature which will allow players to rewind a short period of time to fix any mistakes, this feature will also come to Legacy Collection owners on PS4, Xbox One and PC as well.
Finally, Megaman X will also be getting its own Legacy Collection for the Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC later in Summer 2018. Capcom did not state which games will be available for the collection which started on the Super Nintendo, with its last entry on the PS2 (which included an RPG – Megaman X Command Mission – which we’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t get included.)
We’ll have to wait for more details about the Megaman X Legacy collection and the new Megaman 11 until 2018. Still, it’s good to see the series hasn’t been killed off just yet after years of silence.
