Last week, BBC released the first trailer for The GameChangers, the “Factual Drama” based on the Grand Theft Auto series and the controversy following the game’s release, which features Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe in the role of Rockstar Games’ co-founder Sam Houser, and Bill Paxton (Aliens, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) staring as Jack Thompson.
Written by James Wood and directed by Owen Harris. The 90 minute movie will follow the development of the GTA series and Thompson’s appeal to the family of Devin Moore, the man who shot and killed 3 police officers in 2005 which prompted Thompson to challenge Rockstar Games and console makers to take partial responsibility for the crime.
The Gamechangers has caused a stir amongst the industry especially as the movie is being produced without the participation of Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two, who has filed a lawsuit against the BBC for use of the Grand Theft Auto name. However this lawsuit did not stop the show from airing.
The Gamechangers will debuts on September 15th 2015 at 9PM on BBC Two, however no plans for other regions have been released yet.
