Lets be honest, Assassin’s Creed Unity had left a mark on Ubisoft’s flagship series thanks to a ton of Glitches (that Ubisoft has attempted to correct post launch.) Now we get to see if the team had learned from it’s mistakes with the newly announced Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate.
During a live stream event earlier today, Ubisoft let us know some first details about the game, which already looks to be a step in the right direction. The game will be set in Victorian London, and players will be thrust into the role of Jacob Frye, and his sister Evie, two assassin’s who are bent on ruling the London streets and sparking a revolution. Creative director Marc-Alexis Côté showed off some pre-alpha gameplay during the stream, which showed off some of the Frye’s new weapons including a rope-shot (reminiscent of the Grapple Hook from Batman: Arkham series.)
Côté had also stated that this is the fastest, most responsive combat in Assassin’s Creed history, with players being able to swift hand-to-hand melee strikes along with a kukri (a Nepalese blade similar to a machete) and a handgun to make quick work of your enemies. On top of this players will also be able to use environmental traps and be able to steal any carriages to make a quick get-a-way.
The interesting aspect about Syndicate is that Ubisoft has stated that there will be no Online component with the game, something that has been in the series since Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and arguably one of the reasons for Unity’s glitches.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be available on Oct. 27th for PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release later this fall. We’re assuming we’ll have more on the title at Ubisoft’s E3 Conference.
