If you were feeling uneasy after the story trailer for 2Dark, the latest game from Alone in the Dark creator and pioneer of the Survival Horror genre, Frédérick Raynal. I suggest you might not want to look at the game in motion.
In 2Dark, players take control of Detective Smith, who is investigating a string of kidnappings after his wife was murdered and his kids were taken. Smith attempts to find retribution in the once pristine city of Gloomywood by finding as many taken children and dealing with the psychos that taken them.
But Smith is an ordinary man and the Psychos seem, well… Psychotic. With the game using a top down perspective, Smith will have to use his environment, stick to shadows and the dark, solve puzzles and find the children and get them out. If you think that sounds easy, you have to remember that you are dealing with scared, traumatized children who fidget, cry, and scream, giving away your position to the psychopaths.
The new gameplay looks nerve-wrecking as a survival horror game should, the new trailer shows off the use of shadows, combat and escorting all of which look like a giant “nope”-fest.
Which of course means we’re super excited for this game to scare the crap out of us. 2Dark will be out on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 10th 2017.
