Game Developer American McGee, who was the creative mind behind American McGee’s Alice, Alice: Madness Returns (fun fact, one of our first games we’ve ever reviewed on the site) has expressed interest in making a third game in the series, tentatively titled Alice: Asylum.
In a recent blog post, McGee stated that he is planning to start a proposal for a third title, which will be sent to EA; who currently holds the Alice rights. “This proposal will include artwork, design outline, and financial/business model. When this proposal is finished (and assuming all the numbers and constraints make sense) it’ll be sent to EA,” the post reads.
The post continues “Let’s show EA how many people want a new Alice game!” A mailing list has been set up on the blog-post, plus updates on the project’s development will also be shared on YouTube , Twitter and Facebook .
This is definitely going to be an interesting development as it unfolds, as McGee has been very vocal about his criticisms against EA. In 2014, McGee claimed EA intentionally marketed the game as a Hardcore Horror game, tricking players with gruesome trailers for the game.
Still, as someone who absolutely loved both Alice and Madness Returns, I hope they can put this behind them and work together for a current gen title. Where the game isn’t past the proposal stage, it’s unlikely we’ll hear anything about the project moving forward at EA for some time.
