Backwards Compatibility has been a major selling point for the Xbox One, to the point that according Xbox Head Phil Spencer noted that at least 50% of the Xbox One Userbase is using the ability to play Xbox 360 games on the new console.
This week with the announcement of Bully Scholarship Edition, Cathrine, Blue Dragon (available for the first time digitally) and the Bioshock trilogy now available to be played on Xbox One, Microsoft celebrated making 300 titles available for Backwards Compatibility. In honour of that mark, the cult favourite JRPG Lost Odyssey is now available to everyone for free until December 31st.
The program launched back in November 2015 after much fanfare at E3, since then, Microsoft Free Game program “Games with Gold” has included 360 titles that have been available under the backwards compatibility program. Fan favourite Xbox 360 titles including the Halo franchise and Red Dead Redemption have kept the hype up throughout the year for the program and has definitely made an impact on the console’s success through 2016.
