There are some changes happening with Microsoft’s Games with Gold program thanks to the recently announced backwards compatibility addition. On top of adding a new Xbox One title to the list so that subscribers are receiving 2 Xbox One games through the month, on top of the 2 Xbox 360 games. Throw in the Backwards Compatibility and Games with Gold becomes a great investment. There is a couple of catches though, as Xbox One titles will be free for as long as you have Gold similar to the PSPlus deal, while Xbox 360 games will be permanent on your account.
That being said, here are the free games for July for both Xbox Live’s Games with Gold and Sony’s PSPlus.
Available now on Xbox One is Ubisoft’s high sailing addition to their popular Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, it will be available from July 1st-31st, and will be joined by X10Interactive’s clone puzzle platformer “So Many Me” available between July 16th-August 15th.
Xbox 360 players will prepare to go to war with Popcap’s award-winning lawn-defence game, Plants Vs Zombies, between July 1st-15th, it will then be replaced by the Epic Game’s Gears of War 3 between July 16th-31st.
Sony PSPlus subscribers will see 4 PS4 titles hit the network, starting with the Goblin stealth game Styx: Master of Shadows, and Psyonix’s sequel to 2009’s Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars; Rocket League.
PS3 players will see the stellar Rain from Sony’s JapanStudios, and the super relaxing Entwined, which will also be cross-buy for both PS4 and PSVita.
Finally Vita players will be able to pick up Crunching Koalas’ puzzle game Mousecraft
(also available for PS4 and PS3) and Lucid Games’ Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved. All of these titles will be available during the next store update, set for July 7th.
