The Xbox 360 graphical user interface is the Xbox 360 dashboard that features five blades. N designed by AKQA. It’s launched on its own when the console boots up without a CD, or when the disc tray is ejected. However a gamer may choose to launch a game automatically if a disc is inserted. The simplified version can b viewed anytime with the help of the Xbox guide button on the game pad. This button shows the gamers game card, Xbox live messages n friends list. It also allows personal music settings along with voice/video chats, returning to the primary dashboard from the game.
Several updates have been launched since the consoles released by Microsoft. These include, enhancing Xbox Live functionality and multimedia playback abilities, adding compatibility for new accessories, and fixing bugs in the software. . The latest Dashboard update, revision 2.0.6717.0, was made available on August 6, 2008.
NEW Xbox XPERIENCE
The new look Xbox 360 called “the new Xbox experience” was announced by Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg n Marc Whitten at E3 2008. It’s to help people who cannot navigate thru the current Blade GUI to navigate thru the console easily. The GUI uses the Twist UI. The blade interface is till date used in the new Xbox guide. The new guide is very much similar to dashboard itself, whether it’s ejecting a disk or browsing the Marketplace, thus making it easier to navigate throughout the system.
Many new featured have been put into system software along with the GUI update. Firstly, the update offers the ability to install games from the disk to the hard drive, theoretically reducing load times and disk drive noise. A new Community system is also built in, allowing the creation of digitalized Avatars. These Avatars can then be used for multiple activities such as sharing photos or playing Arcade games like 1 vs. 100. The update will be released on November 19, 2008.
