The long promised Legendary Pokemon Mewtwo is making his way to Pokemon Go!
However, there is a catch… in order to catch him…
Mewtwo is part of a limited-time Exclusive Raid Battle which trainers must receive an invitation to take part in. To get one of these invites, players “must have successfully completed a raid recently, by defeating the Raid Boss, at the Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will be taking place,” according to Niantic’s blog.
Almost sounds like the first Pokemon movie.
Niantic has already released Mewtwo during Yokohama’s Pokemon Go Stadium event, in which players had the chance to take part in the world’s first legendary Mewtwo battle. The Pokemon was exclusive to trainers at the outdoor event and came with a 100% catch rate allowing everyone to leave with a Mewtwo as long as they defeated it in battle.
Mewtwo is a big deal for Pokemon Go players as it was the first legendary hinted for the game. Niantic recently added Lugia and the three Legendary Birds – Articuno, Zpdos, and Moltres – to the popular mobile game.
