After the kritical and financial success of Netherrealm studio’s Mortal Kombat on Xbox 360 and PS3 (also known as Mortal Kombat 9) it was only a matter of time before we would see a new entree in the classic, bloody fighter. With Neitherrealm head and Mortal Kombat Kreator Ed Boon teased some promotional images of a broken spine with text in the MK font asking “Who’s Next?” It was konfirmed by a very kool trailer, that while not showing any actual gameplay, provided some hints at what to expect in the upcoming game.
The trailer featured Sub-Zero and Scorpion settling their old rivalry in the Living Forest and showcased some some old and new abilities including the borrowed feature of the interactable backgrounds from Injustice: Gods Among Us. While that has not been officially confirmed that this feature will be appearing in the next game, it has been said that we can expect to see new fighters joining the fight (a change from MK9’s complete old-school roster.)
Warner Bros. has confirmed that the game will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2015 and promised more information at E3. In the meantime, make sure to check out the devastatingly awesome trailer for the upcoming MKX after the jump.
