The old west has a long history of shoot-out duels where the fastest hands emerged victorious (and alive). This is the concept behind Developer Bandit-1 Games and Indie Publisher Surprise Attack Games’ latest title, Western Press, which will have players attempt to press 10 buttons in the fastest order in order to succeed in a one on one shoot-out.
The game is set to release on Steam tomorrow (April 21st, 2016) and will feature support for 16 player tournaments, both on and offline, as well as a a single player ladder to both earn your skill level and unlock characters, and Memory mode to challenge how well you’ll remember the 10 inputs.
The great thing is that you’ll have plenty of options to test your knowledge of your controller as the game is compatible with Playstation and Xbox controllers, as well as Keyboards and even selected PC dancemats.
Western Press will also have Steam Workshop integration which will allow players to easily add custom characters, stages, taunts and soundscapes. The first character has already been added to the fray as Drinkbox Studios has brought Juan Agucate, star of Guacamelee, to the dueling challenge and will be free via Steam Workshop.
If you’re interested in seeing the game in action, you can check out the game’s tournament mode at PAX East this weekend where it will be the First Round game during Twitch’s PJ Sultan of Streams tournament, where 16 steamers will go head to head to see who is the fastest in the east.
