Gameitall We’re not going to hide our enthusiasm for all things Wayforward and River City Ransom, but when the two of them come together; we have to let out a little fangirl scree.
That is exactly the sound you would hear from us as the Shantae developers released the new trailer for the upcoming beat’em up: River City Girls – a new spin-off game set in the Kunio-kun/River City series which will be coming to PC and Consoles in September, while being published by Arc System Works.
River City Girls puts a spin of the classic River City Ransom formula by having the original River City brawlers Kunio and Riki (known in North America as Alex and Ryan) get kidnapped by gangsters and its up to their girlfriends Kyoko and Misako to bash some heads to rescue them. The new trailer shows off some great sprite work that Wayforward is known for and the all out brawling that the River City games have become famous for with plenty of weapons and power-ups.
River City Girls is launching on PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch digitally on September 5th, with a physical edition being done by Limited Run Games.
