Lets face it, the Wii U isn’t getting much love on November 18th. With Grand Theft Auto 5 PS4 and Xbox One remake, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Ubisoft’s Far Cry 4 all coming out on that date, Wii U owners may feel left out. Well fear not because Ubisoft is set to release Watch_Dogs on the Wii U on November 18th.
While Watch_Dogs isn’t a new game, the 3rd Person Open-World Action game might be well suited for the Nintendo Console. Developed by Ubisoft Romania, the team has been hard at work to find new and creative ways to have the game work with the game pad. Senior Producer of Watch_Dogs, Dominic Guay, had this to say in an interview with Polygon about the development:
“We have our studio in Bucharest working on it, and we wanted that team to have the time to explore the GamePad and be able to have fun with it and see how far they could push it… It’s also an interesting platform, because it has its own strength, which we want to take advantage of, and we didn’t want to delay all the other platforms for that one. So we’re going to take the time we need to make sure the game is good [technically] when we ship it and that it also, game design-wise, makes good use of the specifics of the Wii U.”
Watch_Dogs came to PC and consoles earlier this year to with mixed reviews, but was generally well received. The Wii U version has been delayed to “focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit.” A similar incident occurred back in 2013 with the release of the then exclusive Rayman Legends which expanded due to concerns about sales.
