In one of the most bizarre news today, troubled publisher THQ announced that the upcoming MMO, Warhammer 40K Dark Millenium Online, will actually be a drop the Online portion and become a single player experience with some multiplayer aspects.
“We have been actively looking for a business partner for the game as an MMO. However, based on changing market dynamics and the additional investment required to complete the game as an MMO, we believe the right direction for us is to shift the title from an MMO to a premium experience with single and multiplayer gameplay, robust digital content and community features,” THQ CEO Brian Farrell wrote in a statement.
Because of this change, some cuts were done to the crew at Vigil Games and Relic Entertainment, 79 people from Vigil and 39 from Relic were dropped today.
We’ll have more on the product at a later time. Until then, good luck to those who were dropped.
