Blizzard’s classic RTS games that would later launch one of the biggest MMO properties ever are now available via GOG. Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft 2 Battle.net Edition come just a few weeks after Blizzard and GOG re-release the original Diablo on their systems.
Warcraft: Orcs & Humans was originally released in 1994 and now has been “fully optimized to run out-of-the-box on today’s operating systems,” according to an announcement from GOG.com. Warcraft 2 originally released in 1995, however the Battle.Net Edition includes the Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal expansion. Warcraft 2 comes in two versions: “one that’s been updated with support for high-resolution displays and multiplayer via LAN connections; and a period-appropriate classic version that includes the original SVGA graphics, and matchmaking through the classic version of the Battle.net online-gaming service.”
You can purchase the game’s seperately – with Warcraft costing $5.99USD and Warcraft 2 $9.99USD, or together for $14.99USD. It’s a great way for those who want to see how the battles between the Alliance and Hordes really started before Warcraft 3 gets the remastered treatment.
