Sony released a new trailer for the upcoming Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection yesterday, highlighting some of the key story elements for Nathan, Sully and Elena, and giving us a first look at the PS4 version graphics. That’s cool and all, but what about something to bring back those who played through the series multiple times? What is being added to the games? Luckily, we also got details on 3 new game modes that will be introduced in the Remaster which was provided by Naughty Dog in handy bullet points.
- Explorer Mode is an all-new mode for beginners where combat difficulty is reduced greatly.
- Speed Run Mode adds a timer that allows players to track their gameplay time against their friends as they play sections of the game.
- Brutal Difficulty Mode is the ultimate challenge as the gameplay will be more punishing than Crushing Difficulty (unlocked after beating Crushing Difficulty in the same game).
The collection will also come with 65 character skins to be used across the 3 campaigns, which includes the fan-favourite Doughnut Drake, as well as a Photo-mode. On a downside, Uncharted 2 and 3’s multiplayer modes will not be carried over to the Remastered Edition.
Naughty Dog also had a reminder that anyone who purchased the collection will get access to the Uncharted 4 beta, however no date or details on that promotion has been given at the time of this writing. Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection, which features Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves, and Drake’s Deception, will be released on October 9th.
